¡Hola amigos!
Yesterday, after a long bus ride, we arrived at our second excursion destination, Manual Antonio. Once we arrived at Hotel Mandarina we decided to grab a quick lunch at the cute little cafe next door called Cafe Milagros. Since the heat was so intense, next we all hopped on the bus to get to the beach. When we arrived we quickly stripped to our swimsuits and ran into the warm water.
After a long day of driving and swimming at the beach, we then had the pleasure of watching The Dark Knight in our own little movie theater at a nearby hotel.
Today the group woke up to the sound of birds, and began to prepare for the long day ahead of us. We are so grateful for our wonderful leaders who planned a day of hiking in the national park. During the hike we saw monkeys, sloths, and various kinds of iguanas. We walked for almost one hour to a beautiful lookout. It was truly amazing. Toward the end of our hike most of our group grew restless and tired, which only made arriving to the beach that much better. We played in and enjoyed the magical (but salty) water, jumping over and diving under waves, throwing the Frisbee, body surfing, etc. Lunch was more than amazing after the long and tiresome hike. During the afternoon we had planned to go shopping for souvenirs but, of course, the typical rainy weather of the wet season in Costa Rica got in our way. Although that was a real bummer, we perked ourselves up by instead bonding over dancing and siblings. We finished off our night with a delicious dinner at Emilio’s Cafe. We were joined by another Costa Rica Putney leader whose group has already gone home, but who is still traveling around. It was really fun to hear about his trip and his group and made us feel super lucky that we haven’t had to go home yet! Tomorrow, we are back to Biolley for the last stretch in our beloved village, but not before some morning surfing lessons!
¡Hasta luego!
