
ALIA CARPONTER-WALKER

While at Skidmore, Alia focused on International Affairs, specifically throughout Latin America, and spent a semester abroad in Havana, Cuba. She has spent the past two consecutive summers in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she worked at a community center teaching English and creative movement expression. Aside from spending time in Cuba and Argentina, Alia has had the opportunity to travel to Guatemala and Kenya doing service-based projects with children of all ages centered on dance and movement expression as well as English as a Second Language tutoring. Alia hopes to pursue a graduate degree focusing on how to build private sector policy with the hopes of ultimately working in education nonprofits worldwide, bridging the gap between the government-instated school system and the work that nonprofits do to aid these systems. Alia is fluent in Spanish.
CODY CUTTING

While at Brown, Cody worked as a research assistant for a book on the role of Latin American welfare programs in political corruption, studied abroad in Barcelona, played on the ultimate frisbee team, and spent time teaching and traveling in Nicaragua, Argentina, Chile, and Bolivia. After graduation, Cody spent a year teaching English in Argentina as a Fulbright Scholar. Since returning from Argentina, Cody has worked in social justice law, first at a civil rights law firm advocating for a class of over 22,000 wrongfully arrested people and then as a researcher with the Brennan Center for Justice, a legal advocacy think tank. Cody recently spent a month traveling in Brazil. In the fall, he will begin law school at New York University. Cody is fluent in Spanish and conversational in French and Portuguese.
