Buenos dias from Eric and Victoria!
Sand, sand, sand, sand sand sandy sand. That right there is honestly what took up most of our day. We spent six hours sanding a wall and then we mixed cement for the foundations of the railing posts. Cody went to the nearest hardware store to get even more sandpaper. And naturally, he is going to have to go again tomorrow.

Putney with more sanding than the Sahara.
Apart from the sanding, we were able to complete the cement project. It took a lot of hard work, shoveling incredibly heavy goop, and digging holes. The railing we are helping to build is going to help handicapped people access ASOMOBI’s buildings. Now that that’s done we can focus more on finishing — you guessed it! — the sanding. Fortunately, we have done enough sanding to start lacquering some of the boards that we will use for the room‘s interior walls.

Getting their shellac on.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were delicious (per usual), featuring: soup, rice, beans, breakfast burritos, and fish (though not in that order, and not all at once). We were also lucky enough to have a dessert Laura made for us, which consisted of Jell-o, pudding, cookies, and strawberries. After dinner we got an unofficial dancing lesson from Alia and Jose (Laura’s seventeen year-old son who has been helping us with our work). Our last activity of the night was to play Mafia, a particularly dark parlor game. The mafia emerged victorious, although not without the help of miscommunication, some strategies that confused even the people who were implementing them, and a failed attempt at mafia infiltration.

Somebody’s all tuckered out!
With tired arms, we hit the hay to get ready for another big day tomorrow, including, ojalamos, the end of the sanding!
Sawdust-covered abrazos!
